Nebraska For Us statement as average gas price hits $4 per gallon
“Nebraskans are paying about 20% more for gas in their cars and trucks than they were a month ago—a sharp increase in the household budget that people simply cannot afford. The national average gas price has officially hit $4 a gallon as inflation rises, job losses increase, and access to programs like SNAP and Medicaid continue to shrink. Time and time again, Congressmen Don Bacon and Mike Flood have voted in a manner that increases costs for working class Nebraskans while simultaneously slashing taxes primarily for the ultra-wealthy.
“Fuel prices are expected to remain elevated for at least the next year, if not longer. Already high food prices are likely to follow as the war in Iran continues to escalate and lead to widespread impacts across the global economy. All of these costs will hit the working class hardest. It is time for our state’s federal leaders to turn the tide and start lowering costs for those who need it most.”
