Nebraska For Us statement as government shutdown hits one week, new developments emerge

“As we hit one week since Congressman Don Bacon and the Republican majority shut down the government, calls are growing from the public for Congress to extend tax credits to make health care more affordable. So far, though, no action.

“Recent polling shows President Trump and Republicans have more blame from the public for the government shutdown compared to Democratic lawmakers. On top of that, nearly 80% of all voters in a KFF poll and more than 70% in a Washington Post survey believe the credits need to be extended.

“It’s time for Congressman Don Bacon and Nebraska’s entire federal delegation to get back to work, lower health care costs, and get the government back open. The open enrollment period begins in just 24 days, so there is no time to waste.”
