Nebraska For Us statement as new Medicaid cuts take effect today

“From survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence to refugees, asylees, and even some veterans, these latest cuts are just another example of the lengths the state will go in order to implement sweeping cuts to Medicaid as a result of last year’s tax law.

“Nebraska’s entire federal delegation—including Congressmen Don Bacon and Mike Flood—voted in favor of cutting $1 trillion from Medicaid. Nebraska happens to be the first state implementing these cuts well ahead of the federal deadline.

“The number of Nebraskans calling the state for help has grown 66% in the last three months, and these continued cuts to people who will get sick, whether they have coverage or not, will only cause that call volume to keep on rising. We are incredibly worried about how much worse things will get in the months to come.”
