Nebraska For Us responds to inflation spike from tariffs, warns of more economic pain for Nebraskans

“Nebraskans are already feeling the squeeze of higher grocery bills and rising everyday costs, and unfortunately, this is just the beginning. Today’s inflation spike, fueled by Trump’s tariffs, is only a preview of the economic pain that’s coming because of Representative Don Bacon’s vote for massive cuts to Medicaid and SNAP in the Republican Tax Law.

“Representative Don Bacon and House Republicans didn’t just stand by—they voted earlier this year to support the tariffs. Now Nebraskans are left to pay the price for decisions made behind closed doors that serve political interests, not working families.

“With recent cuts to health care and food and threats of more cost-raising tariffs, the people who will suffer most are those already on the edge. Families relying on Medicaid and SNAP, seniors on fixed incomes, rural communities already losing access to care - this is who will bear the brunt.

“It’s time for Rep. Bacon to stop rubber-stamping an agenda that prioritizes tax breaks for the wealthy while raising prices and ripping away basic support from hardworking Nebraskans. Inflation is rising, and so is the cost of his votes.”
