Nebraska For Us statement on rising insurance premiums as a result of Bacon’s vote for the Republican Tax Law

“The cost of living remains a glaring pain point for working class and middle income Nebraskans because of policies Congressman Bacon supports. From groceries to clothing and now health insurance, costs are going up under the Republican Tax Law and tariffs. These hikes are causing our neighbors to make tough decisions about what bills come first.

“With just a few months until the start of Affordable Care Act Marketplace open enrollment season, we now know insurers are requesting an average of a 15% increase in premiums for 2026 coverage. Insurers attribute higher rates to a loss of enhanced premium tax credits through the Republican Tax Law, in addition to tariffs.

“Congressman Don Bacon voted to support cost-raising tariffs, in addition to Medicaid and SNAP cuts, all to fund massive tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy. We were promised by Congressman Bacon that costs would go down. Instead, we are finding the opposite to be true.”
