“These results, and the massive shift in power seen across the country, are an indication of the economic frustration being felt by so many. Hardworking Nebraskans have called on their federal officials to prioritize the working class and instead have seen them vote to slash taxes for the ultra-wealthy while decimating programs that harm people in need.
“For the last three years, Nebraska For Us has called attention to issues across the economic spectrum that are harming Nebraskans, from SNAP and Medicaid cuts, to the loss of Affordable Care Act tax credits. Tariffs and soaring gas prices due to the war in Iran have only fueled further frustration as retiring Congressman Don Bacon continually ignored repeated calls to stand against these policies.
“We have held town halls at a time when most members of Congress wouldn’t, supported our local food pantries struggling to keep up with growing demand amid SNAP cuts, given back to small businesses fighting rising prices, met with farmers and ranchers dealing with the pain associated with tariffs, and hosted multiple roundtables of experts and people directly affected by cuts to health care programs like Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act.
“Nebraskans are looking for Congress to finally bring down prices, tame inflation, reverse cuts to SNAP and Medicaid, stop the tariffs, end the war in Iran, and make life affordable for all of us.”
-State Director Angie Lauritsen
“From SNAP to Medicaid, the past couple years have been incredibly stressful and financially painful for me and many others. It is my hope that the new Congress will prioritize undoing the cuts to those key programs, especially for those of us who are struggling to make ends meet. We need our federal officials to listen to our fears and concerns by repealing the cuts that have made day-to-day life more difficult.”
