Nebraska For Us statement as high gas prices force drivers to pull back

“With drivers paying 40% more for gas this Memorial Day weekend compared to the same time last year, many are now pulling back on their summer driving plans. According to a new GasBuddy survey, 56% of drivers plan on traveling two or more hours this summer—down from 69% in 2025.

“Hardworking Nebraskans are struggling to stay afloat, and the drastic increase in gas prices has only made that pain grow. Nebraska is on the verge of setting an all-time record for diesel prices which will trickle down to prices for goods at the grocery store that feed our families.

“Congressmen Don Bacon and Mike Flood need to step up and put an end to a deeply unpopular and poorly planned war in Iran before it is too late for pinched consumers. They promised lower prices, but we are getting the exact opposite.”
