Nebraska For Us statement as job growth slows, tariffs create more uncertainty

“We already know economic growth is slowing. Today’s jobs report shows that employment is slowing, too. For months, Nebraska For Us has been raising the alarm on how detrimental tariffs are to the health of the economy and to the consumer. Now we are seeing signs of weakness roll in while working class and middle income Nebraskans navigate stubbornly high prices and interest rates.

“Congressman Don Bacon had the chance to vote to rein in tariff power this spring and instead he voted multiple times in support of President Donald Trump’s new taxes on consumers. With Congress on recess for the next several weeks, it does not appear that dynamic will change.”
