Nebraska For Us statement as price-raising tariffs officially hit highest level since Great Depression thanks to Republicans

“After months of posturing, unpredictability, and delays, a major tax increase on working class and middle income Nebraskans has officially taken effect. Ask any parent who just completed back-to-school shopping, and they will all tell you the same thing—everyday items keep getting more expensive.

“Tariffs are taxes, and they are already raising the prices of groceries, home appliances, and other everyday goods. Before we know it, the holiday shopping season will add further stress on already overwhelmed consumers who were promised major price cuts by Republicans. Unfortunately, they are getting price hikes instead.

“Congressman Don Bacon, himself, admitted tariffs are hurting Nebraska’s economy. As we have pointed out during this entire episode, he had the chance to stop cost-raising tariffs that are hurting Nebraskans. Instead, Bacon voted to support the tariffs and has allowed this months-long mess to go on even longer with no end in sight.”
