Nebraska For Us statement as latest “deadline” moves, new tariffs announced
“While the president and Republicans in Washington might call these agreements ‘deals,’ they are really ripping off working people. Working class and middle income Nebraskans, in addition to our state’s businesses, have been thrown into chaos and uncertainty as Republicans negotiate how much to raise prices on Americans. The unpredictability continues as Friday’s ‘deadline’ has been shifted another week and new tariffs are announced AGAIN!
“This is not a good ‘deal’ for hardworking Nebraskans—it is a tax increase. Congressman Don Bacon had the chance to vote to rein in tariff power and instead he voted multiple times in support of President Donald Trump’s price increases on working people.
“Prices across the spectrum have not come down as promised. In fact, the Republican Tax Law that Congressman Bacon voted for is already set to cause a spike in health insurance premiums for patients using Affordable Care Act Marketplace plans. Unfortunately, it is one of many challenges still to come.”
