Nebraska For Us statement as president’s 2027 budget request includes new cuts harming working Nebraskans

Inflation is rising once again and costs just keep going up. Nebraska For Us is strongly opposed to cuts to public health funding, home heating programs, affordable housing grants, farmer support, and more in order to fund the war. As tariffs raise our prices and cuts to SNAP and Medicaid make health care more unaffordable, the last thing our federal delegation should be doing is voting to cut programs that working people rely on.

“We call on Congressmen Don Bacon and Mike Flood to ensure these programs are funded at a time as challenging as this. Nebraskans need relief, not pain!”

-State Director Angie Lauritsen

“This is the hardest economic crisis I have ever lived through. I have no extra money, and I am unable to make ends meet while experiencing longstanding health challenges and the new obstacles facing SNAP, Medicaid and other programs. Hearing about the risks to other programs that affect people like me is deeply worrying. We are already struggling as it is, and we cannot afford to face even more cuts.”
