Nebraska For Us statement as vote to support tariffs fails, more tariff votes expected today
“House Republicans tried and failed to use a rule vote to prevent any votes on tariffs through July. Time after time, Congressmen Don Bacon and Mike Flood have voted in support of allowing these harmful tax increases to stay in place on multiple occasions. Congressman Bacon finally voted against tariffs that are punishing Nebraska’s farmers, small businesses, and families who are just trying to make a living. Today, he should continue to do the right thing by voting against Canadian tariffs.
“For months, Rep. Bacon, in particular, has spoken about the harms of tariffs but turned around and voted for them every chance he has gotten until now. He has changed his tune this time while Nebraska’s two other representatives decided to keep the price hikes coming. Still, the damage has already been done.
“Working Nebraskans need lower costs, not policies that make life more expensive. Our full federal delegation should vote to strike down any tariffs that get to the floor as soon as today and focus on real solutions, starting with a vote against tariffs on Canada.”
