Nebraska For Us deploys mobile billboard calling on Congressman Don Bacon to reverse SNAP cuts

Local coalition demands Rep. Bacon reverse vote as need grows at local pantries

OMAHA, Nebraska (September 20, 2025)—Today, Nebraska For Us is taking its message on the road as we demand Congressman Don Bacon reverse his vote against hundreds of billions of dollars in SNAP cuts that will impact thousands of Nebraskans. It is part of our monthlong campaign during National Hunger Month, calling attention to his vote for the Republican Tax Law that includes a series of cuts to pay for massive tax breaks to the ultra wealthy. On top of that, he has once again voted to allow tariffs to continue unchecked this week.

“We were promised lower prices on day one, but 2025 has shown that goods continue to just get more expensive,” Nebraska For Us State Director Angie Lauritsen said. “While basic essentials get harder to afford, Congressman Bacon voted to cut benefits for hardworking Nebraskans who are already struggling to get by. That, coupled with tariff price hikes, are making it much more difficult for our neighbors to make ends meet.”

The mobile billboard drove around the Omaha metro Saturday to capture attention from people during their weekend activities about rising costs that are affecting goods across the spectrum—especially groceries. Earlier this month, Nebraska For Us held a food drive that included representatives from Food Bank For The Heartland and Together Omaha who said the need for emergency food assistance has dramatically risen and is only going up.

Amid the cuts, Congress is approaching a potential government shutdown at the end of the month while the Senate works on next steps. With an emphasis on federal economic policy, Nebraska For Us urges Congressman Bacon to consider reversing some of these harmful cuts.
