Nebraska For Us statement on House vote to give away Congressional tariff authority

“Every Nebraskan knows firsthand how tariffs are driving up prices, from higher grocery bills to housing costs and even health insurance premiums. Don Bacon is one of those Nebraskans - last month, he blamed tariffs for putting Nebraska in a ‘recession economy.’

“In April and this morning, Congressman Don Bacon said Congress needed to reclaim its constitutional authority on tariffs and then voted to give away his own authority. Today, he voted with Republicans to do it again, selling out Nebraskans who are paying the price every time they go to the grocery store or pay their insurance bill.

“Families can’t afford to keep paying more for food, housing, and health care because politicians like Don Bacon in Washington are too afraid to stand up to this administration. Nebraskans need leaders who will fight to lower costs and protect our communities, not politicians who bow to Trump and force families to foot the bill.”
