Nebraska For Us statement as inflation approaches 4.0% in new report
“At the worst possible time, paychecks are no longer rising faster than inflation. All of us are feeling it from the gas pump to the grocery store, and the president’s actions in Iran and our federal delegation’s votes are directly contributing to the pain that is only becoming more challenging.
“Nebraskans are paying nearly 40% more for gas than they were this time last year, and that is just the beginning of the story. People are trying to stretch their dollars while running into higher prices across the board. At the same time, Medicaid, SNAP, health insurance tax credits and other programs are facing sweeping cuts due to Congressmen Don Bacon and Mike Flood’s vote for the Republican Tax Law, only compounding the problem.
“Our representatives need to step up and vote to end a deeply unpopular and poorly handled war that has only begun to raise our prices. Refusal to act there, along with any continued cuts to other key programs, will only allow the problem to get worse as we get into the expensive summer months.”
