Nebraska For Us statement as SNAP enrollment drops 22% in past year

“As costs keep soaring and local food pantries are strained with growing demand, SNAP cuts are hitting Nebraska hard. Paired with expected enrollment reductions to soon show up in the state’s Medicaid data, working Nebraskans are being squeezed on all sides. By design, the Republican Tax Law’s benefit cuts are hitting Nebraska’s most vulnerable populations—including many children—when even more people are struggling.

“Nebraskans warned Congressmen Don Bacon and Mike Flood that these cuts would take food and health care from working people just to give the ultra-wealthy more tax breaks, but they voted for the tax law anyway. It did not have to be this way, and working people are paying the price.”
