Nebraska For Us statement as diesel prices hit all-time high
“Nebraska drivers are paying about 30% more for gas than they were at this time last year. Add on these record-high diesel prices and the way they could ripple throughout the economy, and we are left with even more pain at a time when hardworking Nebraskans simply cannot afford it. From truck drivers to farmers, small businesses, and more, the impacts will be felt widely.
“The state’s entire federal delegation has actively supported the Iran War that has pushed oil and gas prices up significantly this year. There are now fears that inflation at the grocery store could hit 5% as we head into 2027, due in large part to the chaos from the war along with the supply chain.
“It seems the bad economic news is coming from so many different angles with no relief in sight. Nebraskans need relief and solutions. Cuts to key programs like SNAP and Medicaid are exacerbating the affordability crisis, on top of soaring costs across the board. At what point do we start getting the lower prices we were promised on day one?”
