Nebraska For Us statement as inflation surpasses 4.0% in latest report

“From the grocery store to the gas pump and everywhere in between, pinched Nebraskans are struggling to make ends meet. Prices keep rising at unsustainable levels despite the fact that we have been promised lower prices for more than a year. Gas is up sharply from this time last year while Medicaid, SNAP, health insurance tax credits and other programs have faced cuts at the same time.

“That combination was made possible by votes from Congressmen Don Bacon and Mike Flood in support of the Republican Tax Law which was enacted nearly a year ago. Things have since gotten worse. The war in Iran is now past the 100-day mark, and we still do not know the full extent of the economic damage as a key waterway remains blocked.

“The latest measures show consumers are historically pessimistic, and they have good reasons to feel that way. Our leaders must put an end to the deeply unpopular war once and for all while also rolling back tariffs and providing refunds to those who deserve them. The damage is already done, but it can be stopped before things get even worse.”
