Nebraska For Us statement as government shutdown begins to affect federal paychecks amid erratic layoffs

“We have now hit the stage of the government shutdown where federal workers will not receive any further pay until the impasse comes to an end. It is unfortunate that the Republican majority refuses to take any action to lower health care costs and reopen the government so that federal workers can afford their own expenses at home.

“The chaos and the uncertainty are the point. Meanwhile, poll after poll shows a plurality of Americans pin the government shutdown blame toward President Trump and the Republican majority in Congress. Congressman Don Bacon and our entire federal delegation should agree to lower health care costs, reopen the government, and resume paying federal workers.”

-State Director Angie Lauritsen
