Nebraska For Us statement as weak August jobs report shows sluggishness in economy
“The numbers don’t lie, and the slowing economy is leaving working class and middle income Nebraskans with fewer jobs, higher grocery and utility prices, and uncertainty about the future.
“Congressman Don Bacon and Nebraska’s entire federal delegation voted to cut SNAP and Medicaid at a time when costs continue to rise because of the tariffs they voted for—all to give tax breaks to billionaires and corporations. The state has one of the worst-performing GDPs across the country.
“Tariffs are hurting Nebraska’s agricultural industry, and manufacturing jobs have fallen by the tens of thousands this year. Congressional Republicans need to lower prices and restore the health care and food stamps they previously cut before even more damage is done.”
